The Power of Affirmations
Affirmations are more than just positive thinking.
They actually have the ability to rewire your brain so that, over time, you do and think differently, naturally.
Many of this don't realize this, but we actually already do affirmations regularly. Only they tend to rehearse negative and self-limiting beliefs. We repeat negative self-talk over and over in our heads.
I'm not good enough.
I'm not valuable.
I'm unlovable.
Do any of those sound familiar? I have certainly been guilty in letting those lies grab hold of my thought life. And in doing so? Hold me back from living the life of freedom and impact God designed.
It's one of the reasons we've been called to be transformed (in what we do and think) by the renewing of our minds (affirming truth and uprooting self-centred or negative thinking).
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
Frequent repetitions of your new affirmations are important. We need to do battle in our minds and that requires us to be vigilant.
Couple that consistency with:
1. Affirming in FAITH - believing all God has said about you is true. Our God does not - cannot - lie.
2. Affirming with INTENTION - actively talking back to the lies in your head and replacing them with the truth of the word.
3. Affirming FREE from DISTRACTION - you cannot be passive in war. You need to focus on what you are affirming so it can grow deep in your spirit and take up roots in your mind.
